DESCRIPTION:Please join Pilgrim Congregational Church in Oak Park on Wednesday\, August 26\, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m. as guest presenter André L. Watkins shares his knowledge and expertise on policing\, as he addresses our concerns about police operations\, practices and racism.  Following the virtual presentation\, a moderator will intercede for those who have submitted questions through the Zoom Chat\, and Mr. Watkins will respond.\n\nMr. Watkins retired from the US Marine Corps\, after serving for 31 years as a Chief Warrant Officer 5-Embarkation Officer (Logistics Specialist).  He also served the Houston Police Department for 30 years as a Senior Patrol Officer\, undercover narcotics agent\, D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) instructor\, and finally as an academy Cadet Trainer and Defensive Tactics instructor.\n\nWatkins’ formal education was in criminal justice\, culminating in a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice-Corrections\, summa cum laude.  This education has been augmented through life experiences garnered while traveling to five different continents.  As an academician\, he has also taught in the Lone Star College System\, Prairie View A&M University and Kaplan University.  His expertise is in Police Systems and Practices\, Police Operations and Criminal Investigations.\n\nRegister here.  After registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.\n\nThis event is brought to you by Pilgrim Congregational Church Sacred Conversations on Race Committee’s Be Bold!  White Privilege and Standing with Others Group.\n\n
