Workshop on Chicagoland Forest Preserves

On January 28th, 2016, we are partnering with the Cook County Forest Preserve District to offer a half-day workshop (9-1 with lunch) at Thatcher Woods on the scientific health and spiritual benefits of nature (and what the Forest Preserves have to offer our Chicagoland congregations). This workshop is aimed towards clergy and leaders in congregations who work with small groups, seniors, youth, and any group that is planning their 2016 activity calendar. Research shows that time spent in nature has real impact on learning ability, stress, emotional and mental health. However, some Chicagoland congregations don’t have access to safe space, or realize the gems of the Forest Preserve that are less than 30 miles away and suitable for retreats, VBS, outdoor education, meditation, team-building exercises, etc etc. The event is free but registration is required (for lunch).
